WonderCon 2025 Recap: Anaheim Becomes the Epicenter of Geek Culture

Let’s just get this out of the way: WonderCon 2025 absolutely ruled.

Held once again at the massive Anaheim Convention Center, just a lightsaber's throw from Disneyland, this year’s WonderCon felt like geek Christmas and a reunion party for fandoms all rolled into one glorious, overstimulating weekend. It had everything—epic cosplay, walls of rare comics, exclusive merch you’ll cry over later if you didn’t snag it, and a community that felt like home. Let’s dive into what made it such a wild ride.

🎭 Cosplay, Cosplay, Cosplay (Did We Mention Cosplay?)

Right from the entrance, you were hit with the full power of cosplay excellence. We're talkin' full-on Wookiees, Mandalorians with baby Yodas in slings, anime squads on the march, and enough Jokers to start a multiverse.

One of the highlights? The massive Marvel and Star Wars cosplay meetups that felt like cinematic crossover events. Jedi doing selfies with Batmen. A WALL-E rolling past a Jawa who tried (and failed) to claim him. And if you missed the Harley Quinns? Don't worry, there were approximately 74 of them—each cooler than the last.

The energy was contagious. It wasn’t just about costumes—it was about community. These folks live their fandoms, and you could feel the love.

🎹 Artist Alley: Where the Real Magic Happens

Need a print of Mario reimagined as a barista in Brooklyn? How about a gritty noir Pikachu? Artist Alley was the spiritual heart of WonderCon 2025, packed with original works, indie comic creators, and illustrators from around the world.

Highlights included:

  • Sarah Myer, currently slaying it on the TMNT: Saturday Morning Adventures comic line (seriously, dream job).
  • Super Emo Friends, bringing that cute-sad energy to your favorite characters.
  • Justin Orr, whose gritty, throwback-inspired art had everyone stopping in their tracks.
  • And don’t sleep on Tiki shirt booths—they were everywhere and they were fabulous.

From screen-printed stickers to hand-bound zines, it was like walking through a living, breathing Tumblr dashboard. If you didn’t walk out of there with at least three prints and a new enamel pin addiction, we need to talk.

đŸ€– Droid Builders, Props & The Toys That Make You Cry

Nothing, and I mean nothing, beats seeing custom-built droids cruising around the show floor. We’re talking R2 units, BB-8s, a Chopper that was fully functional, and even a Darth Maul-inspired droid signed by Ray Park himself.

And the props? Oh man. Imagine hand-crafted lightsabers, screen-used Batman cowls, foam-forged Doc Ock arms, and vintage Star Trek phasers all in one place. It was prop heaven.

The toy scene was just as nuts. From massive Mega Man displays to ultra-rare GI Joe figures, you could walk out of WonderCon with a new collection—or five. Toynami, Mondo, and even cereal mascots got the action figure treatment this year (Tony the Tiger in plastic glory? Yes, please).

📚 Comics Galore: From Golden Age to Indie Darlings

WonderCon didn’t forget its roots—comics were everywhere. Whether you were chasing golden-age Uncle Scrooge issues, ‘90s holographic covers, or picking up the latest indie horror one-shot, there were literal walls of books begging to be flipped through.

There’s something deeply comforting about walking through rows of long boxes, hunting for that one issue you read as a kid but lost track of. It’s part archaeology, part therapy, and all nostalgia.

đŸ± Food Trucks, Panels, & Outside Vibes

Even if you only made it to the food trucks outside, you’d still feel like part of the con. There were DJ sets, cosplay karaoke, spontaneous dance-offs, and enough anime group photos to break Instagram.

And yes—next time, I'm wearing a costume too. Because not being in cosplay at WonderCon feels like going to a pool party and not swimming. It’s fine, but you’re clearly missing out.

đŸ’„ WonderCon 2025 = 10/10 Nerd Bliss

Whether you're into cosplay, collectibles, comics, or just geeking out with fellow fans, WonderCon 2025 delivered big. I went in thinking a single Saturday ticket would be enough. I was wrong. So wrong.

By the end of the day, my backpack was stuffed, my feet were aching, and my brain was fried in the best way possible. There’s something magical about a space where everyone is passionate about something. And at WonderCon, that magic is everywhere.

So yeah, if you missed it this year, start planning for WonderCon 2026 now—because trust me, this con doesn’t just live up to the hype. It levels up.
